Political parties view the undocumented workers as potential sources of votes. Politicians push reforms that favor workers who are hired in the country illegally in order to boost their voting blocks. Democrats and Republicans push for initiatives such as health care or social welfare that impress the illegal workers because they know their efforts would translate into votes.
